How to save WhatsApp status photos and videos on Android

How it works (in plain language)

WhatsApp keeps statuses you have viewed in a hidden media folder on your phone. Android will not let random apps open that folder without your OK. Status Saver opens the system folder picker, you tap Use this folder on .Statuses, and the app lists what is there until WhatsApp clears it (~24 hours).

Step by step

View every status you want to keep in WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business — open photos and play videos, don’t just scroll past the ring.
Open VidPivot → tap Status Saver on home, or the bottom Status tab.
Grant folder access (first time). Tap Grant access → on the system screen choose the .Statuses folder → Use this folder → Allow. Statuses stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Choose WhatsApp or Business at the top if you use both apps. Business needs its own grant the first time.
Use the chips: All, Photos, or Videos. Pull down to refresh after viewing new statuses.
Save what you want. Tap Save on a thumbnail, or open the item and Save from the preview. Toast should confirm: saved to Downloads/VidPivot.
Open the file later from your Files app under Downloads → VidPivot, or from VidPivot’s downloads/saved area.

One Status Saver screen handles both. You do not need two apps. The Photos and Videos chips only change what the grid shows; the folder underneath is the same .Statuses directory.

Is saving a status private content theft?

No. This only works for statuses already shared with you and already opened in WhatsApp. It copies the local cached file to Downloads before the status expires. It cannot pull statuses you never viewed or were blocked from seeing.

What can go wrong

Only videos, or only photos. Check the All / Photos / Videos chip. Also confirm you actually opened that status type in WhatsApp.
A contact’s status is missing. You must open it in WhatsApp yourself. Scrolling past the avatar is not enough. Restricted lists you are not on never cache for you.
Empty grid after “Allow”. Wrong folder is common — re-grant and pick the folder named .Statuses. Then view a status and pull to refresh.
Photo looks soft. WhatsApp compresses status images on upload. The saved file matches what WhatsApp showed, not the poster’s original camera file.
Yesterday’s status is gone. After ~24 hours WhatsApp clears the folder. Save the day you view.
